What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to a person before, during, and shortly after childbirth. The goal of a doula is to help the birthing person have a safe, positive, and empowering birth experience.
How can you help me?
As a mother, UK trained nurse and midwife and certified lactation consultant I can help you in a number of ways to prepare you for and support you through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
Why don't you work as a midwife anymore?
My registration expired whilst moving countries and looking after my own family. I couldn't legally work as a midwife in Singapore so I trained as a doula enabling me to continue to work in the area I am so passionate about.
Can you do what a midwife does?
Yes and No
I can support you like a midwife would but I can't do anything medical.
I can supply you with the information that a midwife would but I can't advise you what to do.
I cannot deliver your baby but I can support you or your partner birthing your own baby.
As a doula I find that I have much more time to support you and your partner because I don't have the paperwork and other commitments that I had as a midwife.
Can I free birth with your support?
I believe that all birthing women should have a registered midwife present for optimum safety. However if you choose to free birth I can support you emotionally, physically and with information but I cannot deliver medical care.
What are your fees?
This is dependent on your needs.
A one off visit is £200 up to the Love Birth, Before and Beyond package is
Can I claim your fees on insurance?
Yes you can!
Most insurances have paid for my services and even referred me to their clients. I can help you to navigate this as you will need to read your insurance policy carefully to see if you are eligible.
